I hate wasting money. When making a purchase I’m constantly comparing prices and options.  Even its something as small as pack of gum I want to make sure I’m getting the most bang for my buck.  Needless to say, when I needed a website host I wanted to make I selected a provider that was a great value.

When selecting a hosting provider I did not base my decision on price alone. I examined a variety of factors such as reputation, customer service, up time and web resources as well as pricing.  There are a lot of credible hosting providers available such as GoDaddy, HostGator, 1And1 and many more.  Based on my research I ended up selecting Bluehost because I felt they offered the best overall value in a variety of areas.

In an effort to be fully transparent, Bluehost offers an affiliate program for referring customers to its services.  I am a part of the Bluehost affiliate program but it has no bearing on why I recommend Bluehost. I would still recommend Bluehost to clients and use it myself regardless of the program.   If you use my link to sign up for hosting, there is no additional cost and it will help cover some of the expenses associated with my site. Either way, I hope find this post helpful in selecting the website host that best suites your needs.

Affordable Hosting

Bluehost offers various pricing options based on the length of the hosting agreement.  Hosting costs as little as $4.95 per month and includes unlimited storage space, the ability to host unlimited websites and email accounts. Plus, Bluehost gives you a free domain name for the first year of hosting service.

Why Use Bluehost-Pricing

Other shared hosting providers can vary between $1.99 per month to $14.99 per month.  Bluehost’s prices rank near the lower end but they offer more resources and support than many other discount hosting providers.    Be aware that most other low-end providers place restrictions on space, bandwidth or the number sites that can be hosted.  Also, many discount hosting companies are known for their poor customer support and less than stellar up-times.  Bluehost’s affordability in conjunction with its unlimited hosting capacity made it an obvious choice for me.

Excellent Support

I’ve had very good experiences each time I’ve used Bluehost’s support.  The support representatives I’ve spoken to have been located in the US and provide prompt and friendly service.  Support is available in variety of platforms such as phone, email or online chat.  They also have a large collection of online videos and tutorials to assist with common questions.  The quality of Bluehost’s support is a major benefit that separates it from other hosting provider’s, especially the low cost and foreign based hosting providers.

Performance

Bluehost has shown to be a leader among hosting providers when it comes to speed and performance.  Dotcom-monitor.com pitted hosting providers against each other in a variety of performance metrics.  Bluehost was among the fastest in each of the tests and ranked #1 in worldwide loading time.  Website speed is critical because studies have shown visitors are less likely to stay on a website if it is slow to respond.

BlueHost Does Not Host Porn

Bluehost has made it a strict company policy to not host pornographic websites or images on their servers.  Bluehost’s CEO stated in this blog post that he believes ethics and personal responsibility should come before profits. I really admire Bluehost’s stance on this issue and their willingness to do what is right, even if it means lower profits.

What hosting provider do you use? What have your experiences been?
